Hearing the Heart of God

I found this article and thought it was a good one concerning hearing the heart of God. Enjoy

Hearing the Heart of God

Jack Hayford, Pastor of Church on the Way in California wrote these words:

“Religion has so often missed the heart of God
That we are wise to question its propositions,
To disallow its coldness which chills our sensitivities
Until we have lost our touch with human need”

Religion will always seek to get your focus off of Him and His Heart and onto self. It will seek to puff oneself up and look at all the good things that we are doing, and how spiritual we are. We will become like the Pharisees and Sadducees, having a form of godliness but denying the power of God. They sought the approval of man instead of God. So when you find yourself being more religious than having a relationship with Him; hear the heart of God.

When religious tendencies make your own heart quick to accuse and slow to love,
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be discerning

When religion condemningly says, “They are sinful”
Hear God’s heart say, “So have you been.”

When religion mockingly says, “They are different”
Hear God’s heart say, “Reach to them”

When religion judgmentally says, “They are weak in their service to God”
Hear God’s heart say, “Show them mercy and strengthen their weak hands”

When religion accusingly says, “They are ignorant about the things of the Lord”
Hear God’s heart say, “Then humbly go teach them”

When religion accusingly says, “They are incorrect in their use of God’s Word”
Hear God’s heart say, “Live the truth before their eyes”

When religion indignantly says, “Society is sick”
Hear Jesus say, “You go heal them in My Name”

THE SOLUTION TO THE DEATH-DEALING POWER OF STERILE RELIGION
Is life-giving love and truth-living life

Hear the heart of God this week, you’ll be glad you did.

it is always an uplifting message when i read something like this that leaves a lesson with an alternative in addition to the problem a person might have (which I often have in the message). Thank you for this uplifting blog, I look forward to the next one).

That was awesome to read and it hits hard. We, or at least, I am so quick to point out others faults or sins and try to put my own on the back burner. Thanks for doing this and sharing!!!

You should have thought about that before beliving false accusations against me and taking quick and unjust actions...
